If you have suffered from pain that has lasted for months, years, or even for most of your lifetime, then you are dealing with chronic back pain symptoms.
Chronic back pain is diagnosed when the patient suffers from the back pain for a period of several months or longer. This type of pain can be truly debilitating, resulting in pain that extends from the back to other areas of the body as well.

Chronic back pain can be debilitating but help is available.
Defining Chronic Back Pain
Chronic back pain is often the diagnosis when a patient continues to suffer from back pain for three months or more.
The pain may be focused on the back area or it may include the back area as well as the neck, shoulders, and even the legs and buttocks muscles.
Chronic back pain is actually not a “disease” itself — rather, it is a sign that something is seriously wrong within the body.
Treatments for Chronic Back Pain Symptoms
Treatments for chronic back pain vary widely, but traditional western doctors tend to treat it with medication or surgery. Medications may include pain killers such as narcotics, anti-inflammatory medicines, or injections of cortisone.
These medications are all associated with a number of side effects, especially when taken over the long term.
Surgery is another option for dealing with chronic back pain, but is ideally performed only as a last resort option. Back surgery can easily sideline a patient for months and involves a great deal of pain. Additionally, recent studies have suggested that back surgery is actually warranted in or can be truly helpful in less than 2 percent of all cases.
The Source of Chronic Back Pain
Back injury has to be treated at the source of the pain to be successfully resolved. Generally there are one of two causes for a chronic back pain injury: A sudden trauma such as an auto accident or a postural dysfunction such as muscle imbalances.
Both of these types of back injury can be resolved by finding the actual area the pain is coming from, and correcting that area. When every area of the back is properly aligned and supported, the healing can start and you’ll begin to get some relief from chronic back pain symptoms.
